Flint Hills Food Recovery

Want to help reduce wasted food and provide to those in need?

Community organizations and individuals are needed to transport unused food from restaurants, caterers, and grocery store donors to food assistance organizations that supply food to community members in need.

Food and Farm Council Food Insecurity Community Action Team

Current initiatives are focused on adding more Blessing Boxes in the county, seeking additional free communal meal sites in high needs neighborhoods in Manhattan and rural communities, and creating solutions to get food to people and lowering barriers of getting people to food. We need volunteers to build Blessing Boxes, help stock boxes, serve as a new free communal meal site, help create a solution to make it easier for people to access food, such as a mobile pantry, and assist with communications to the public for better awareness of food distribution opportunities.
