Harvesters

Harvesters is a regional food bank that serves a 26-county area and supports more than 760 nonprofit agencies working to provide food and household products to those in need. Harvesters offers education programs to increase community awareness of hunger and teach about nutrition. Mobile distributions, BackSnack and other programs are offered to Riley County residents through Harvesters and partnering agencies. Manhattan Housing Authority

Manhattan Housing Authority provides safe and affordable housing to income qualified applicants. This generally is any individual or family with income less than 80% AMI. The Housing Authority currently has five properties totaling 202 units, with efficiency, 1-, 2-, 3-, and 4-bedroom units. We also issue and manage nearly 300 Housing Choice Vouchers (commonly called Section 8).

The central location for senior-related activities and programs for Manhattan and Riley County. Services include the Friendship Meals Program, referral services, educational programs, recreation, social activities.

Salvation Army Family Store and Donation Center

A thrift and consignment store accepting donations and providing affordable clothing, toys, and household goods. Kitchenware starter kits available.

Shepherd’s Crossing

Assist with rent, utilities and prescriptions. Help cover the expense of birth certificates and i.ds plus submission of Fairy Godmother and Guardian grants, and vision grants. Clothing vouchers for the Encore Shop, Budget Shop and Salvation Army. Kitchenware starter kits provided.

To qualify
Be a resident of Riley Co. and Pottawatomie Co. with addresses of Manhattan and St. George. Intake with a counselor to determine income/expenses and assistance needed.

Thrive!

A non-profit that works to end generational poverty by building relationships. Our participants (leaders) are matched with 2-3 mentors (allies) for 18 months. Leaders work on goal setting and the team works on goals, problem-solving, etc. We also do “conversations” bi-weekly that cover things like budgeting, parenting skills, self-advocacy, self-care, and stress management.

Free clothing, shoes, coats/jackets, school supplies, personal hygiene products, and kitchenwares to qualified USD 383 students and their immediate families

To qualify
1.Student enrolled in a school within USD 383 (Manhattan-Ogden), includes Manhattan Catholic Schools, Flint Hills Christian School and home-educated.
2. Student must also qualify for the free/reduced lunch program.
